About Speakers Club
Loughborough Speakers Club is a friendly and engaging public speaking club, who help and support our members to become better speakers for professional and personal gain.
Our club evenings cover a wide range of presentation skill training and learning, from prepared speeches, evaluations and feedback, to education sessions and impromptu speaking, all in an encouraging and supportive environment. Alongside improving your speaking and presentation skills you will meet a very friendly and sociable group of people of all ages and from many different backgrounds.
We meet every second and fourth Tuesday each month at John Storer House in Loughborough

A few things you’ll learn at Speakers Club
The goal of Speakers Club is to help you learn to speak in public, with confidence. Whether it is help with work presentations, job interviews, university presentations, an upcoming wedding speech or any other form of public speaking, we are here to provide you with the skills to succeed.
The main elements of the Speakers Club programme are the Prepared Speech, the Evaluation (feedback) and the Topic (impromptu speaking). Each of these helps you to develop a new ability and technique on your speaking journey and will combine to improve your overall presentation skills.

Prepared Speeches
Each meeting features three prepared speeches focused on specific themes, ranging from speech structure, to building audience rapport, and even story telling and using word pictures, making for a highly entertaining evening.

Evaluations & Feedback
Learning to give and receive feedback is an important skill. Each speech is evaluated by another club member. This helps the speaker learn what they have done well and what they can do better to ensure ongoing improvement.

Impromptu Speeches
Can you stand in front of an audience and talk on a subject that you haven’t prepared for? With practice and support, you can improve and develop your impromptu skills. But don’t worry, you’ll never be put on the spot if you’re not comfortable with it.
Education sessions
During each Club Meeting, we provide a short educational session focused on helping you improve different speaking skills.
Subjects range from helping to overcome nerves during a presentation, to improving body language, and even best practice for using props as part of your speech. We even share techniques for helping you to come up with presentation ideas and for structuring your evaluation feedback. These sessions help to ensure that each meeting provides extra value for our members.
Speech Coaching
Each club member has the option of choosing a more experienced speaker as a mentor or speech coach, to help provide extra 1:1 support for their speaking journey.
Mentoring provides a powerful support network for practising speeches, sharing any concerns around topics or nerves, and even bouncing ideas around. All discussion can remain confidential between you and your mentor.

Attending Speakers Club gave me the confidence I needed to deliver a conference presentation in front of a large audience. I would never have been able to do that without the support and guidance that the club provided.
